Chelsea have been one of the busiest clubs in the past few summer transfer windows and this year is proving to be no different.
As many as six signings were confirmed by the Blues before their participation in the Club World Cup and they haven’t stopped there.
Naturally, to counteract the characteristic big spending, players will need to leave as well.
Chelsea have Champions League football on the cards for the 2025-26 season, so will be working tirelessly to make sure their squad is in shape for it.
Here is a roundup of every signing they have made this summer and every player leaving, at first team and academy level.
Chelsea signings
Dario Essugo
- From: Sporting CP
- Fee: £18.5m
- Position: Midfielder
- Age: 20
Chelsea agreed their deal to sign Essugo back in March, as part of a double raid on Sporting that will also see Geovany Quenda make the same move in the summer of 2026.
At the time, Essugo was on loan at Las Palmas, where he finished the season with 27 appearances in LaLiga.
The Portuguese midfielder has signed a contract until 2033 at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea completed the deal in time for the Club World Cup.
“It’s a big step to make early in my career,” Essugo told Chelsea’s official website. “Every player dreams of getting to a big club and Chelsea is no exception. It’s a massive club and I’m feeling proud and very happy to be here.”
It remains to be seen how many starting opportunities Essugo will get at first in a Chelsea shirt, given that with Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez they already have two of the most expensive midfielders in the world in their squad.
Kendry Paez
- From: Independiente del Valle
- Fee: £17.3m
- Position: Attacking midfielder
- Age: 18
Chelsea agreed to sign Paez two years ago, but he has only been able to officially complete his move this summer now he’s turned 18.
The Ecuadorian attacking midfielder made 70 appearances for Independiente del Valle and scored 13 goals.
Chelsea have acquired a whole host of young talents under their current ownership, so would struggle to fit them all in the same team straight away.
With that in mind, reports indicate Chelsea will send Paez on loan to sister club Strasbourg for the 2025-26 season.
Mike Penders
- From: Genk
- Fee: £17m
- Position: Goalkeeper
- Age: 19
Chelsea pre-agreed to sign Penders from Genk last summer, with the move formally going through this June.
The teenage goalkeeper had a breakout season with Genk in between, making 22 appearances in all competitions.
Chelsea have been on the hunt for a new first-choice goalkeeper, postponing their pursuit of Mike Maignan from AC Milan, but are expected to take Penders with them to the Club World Cup to compete with Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen.
Estevao Willian
- From: Palmeiras
- Fee: £29m
- Position: Winger
- Age: 18
Another signing with roots in a previous window, Estevao was lined up for a move to Chelsea last June, with the Blues merely having to wait until he turned 18 in April to be able to welcome him.
The attacking midfielder made 78 appearances for Palmeiras and scored 26 goals, making a name for himself as one of the biggest prospects in South American football.
Carlo Ancelotti started Estevao during his first game as Brazil manager, in further recognition of not just his potential but the level he is already playing at.
While Chelsea have managed to pay £29m as an initial fee for Estevao, he could end up costing up to £52m thanks to add-ons in the deal.
Estevao is expected to be on contract until 2033 in west London.
Liam Delap
- From: Ipswich Town
- Fee: £30m
- Position: Striker
- Age: 22
Delap has become the latest incumbent of Chelsea’s no.9 shirt after signing a contract until 2031.
The striker will hope to fare better than some of his predecessors as he looks to build on the promise of a 12-goal season with Ipswich.
Relegation from the Premier League made Delap available for £30m due to a release clause in his contract.
There was widespread interest in the former Manchester City youngster, but Chelsea won the race.
“It’s going to be an incredible place for me to develop, and I hope to achieve amazing things here and help the club win more trophies,” Delap said.
Mamadou Sarr
- From: Strasbourg
- Fee: £11.9m
- Position: Defender
- Age: 19
Chelsea have used Strasbourg as a springboard club for some of their younger talents since BlueCo added the French club to their stable in 2023.
In 2024, Strasbourg signed Sarr from Lyon – and a year later, the defender has completed a switch to Chelsea.
It was reportedly arranged in January for Sarr to join Chelsea this summer, but the club took until June to announce the deal anyway.
Sarr signed an eight-year contract at Stamford Bridge after playing 28 times for Strasbourg last season.
Despite his youthful age, it’s expected that Sarr will become a member of Chelsea’s first-team squad straight away.
Joao Pedro
- From: Brighton
- Fee: £55m
- Position: Forward
- Age: 23
Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Pedro from Brighton on an eight-year contract after he flew to the USA during the Club World Cup to complete the deal.
“Everyone knows this is a big club with a great history,” he told the club’s official website. “They had brilliant players in the past and have brilliant players now. So I am excited to join and you know when you are a Chelsea player you must think one thing — win.”
Able to play as a centre-forward or a no.10, Pedro will provide something different in the final third for Chelsea along with fellow new signing Delap.
The move was completed in time for Pedro to be eligible to play for Chelsea in the quarter-finals of the Club World Cup and beyond.
Jamie Gittens
- From: Borussia Dortmund
- Fee: £52m
- Position: Winger
- Age: 20
The Blues have completed the signing of Gittens from the Bundesliga outfit for a fee of £48.5m plus the potential for a further £3.5m in add-ons.
The 20-year-old, who joined Dortmund from Manchester City in 2020, has signed a seven-year deal at Stamford Bridge.
The England Under-21 forward scored 17 goals and contributed 14 assists in 107 games for the German club.
Gittens, who will not be able to play for the Blues until after the Club World Cup, said it is an “amazing feeling” to move to Stamford Bridge.
Christopher Atherton
- From: Glenavon
- Fee: Undisclosed
- Position: Winger
- Age: 16
Nearly three years after becoming the youngest ever player in the UK when making his Glenavon debut at the age of 13, Atherton has joined Chelsea, as confirmed by the Northern Irish club.
He will now get to develop in the Chelsea academy, although the spotlight shouldn’t be on him for a while.
Kian Best
- From: Preston North End
- Fee: Free
- Position: Left-back
- Age: 19
Best ended his Preston career on loan in the League of Ireland with Bohemians, before being announced as a new academy addition for Chelsea in July.
Best was just 17 when he made his Championship debut for Preston and has also played for England up to under-19 level.
Jorrel Hato
- From: Ajax
- Fee: £35.5m
- Position: Defender
- Age: 19
Regarded as one of Dutch football’s next generation of talented stars, Hato opted to move to Stamford Bridge after previous strong interest from Liverpool.
Having captained Ajax at times and already clocked up an impressive 111 appearances, he arrives with a huge reputation and has signed a seven-year deal with the Blues, where he will provide cover at both centre-half and at left-back.
“I’m very excited, I’m so happy to be here,” he said. “I thought a lot about my future and wanted to take the next step in my career. Chelsea is the best place for me to do that so I’m very happy.”
Jesse Derry
- From: Crystal Palace
- Fee: Compensation
- Position: Winger
- Age: 18
Derry didn’t want to sign a contract with Crystal Palace and has secured a cross-London move to Chelsea, signing a four-year contract.
The England U19 international is expected to start out in the youth ranks at Chelsea.
Chelsea exits
Kepa Arrizabalaga
- To: Arsenal
- Fee: £5m
- Position: Goalkeeper
- Age: 30
Seven years ago, Chelsea made Kepa the most expensive goalkeeper of all time – but they have recouped a fraction of the fee.
While Kepa struggled to justify his price tag at Chelsea, he went on to spend the last two seasons of his contract there out on loan, first with Real Madrid and then with Bournemouth.
A positive spell on the South Coast has led to a permanent exit for Arsenal, who have paid Kepa’s £5m release clause one year before his Chelsea contract would have expired.
“After seven unforgettable years, the time has come to close a very special chapter in my life,” Kepa posted on social media. “Chelsea was my home, my family, and the place where I grew both as a footballer and as a person.
“I arrived full of dreams and I leave with unforgettable memories: titles like the Champions League, Europa League, UEFA Super Cup, Club World Cup… but above all, moments shared with incredible people on and off the pitch.”
Kepa’s final appearance tally for Chelsea was 163, from which he conceded 175 goals.
Dylan Williams
- To: Burton Albion
- Fee: Free
- Position: Left-back
- Age: 21
After spending last season on loan in League One with Burton Albion, Williams has made the move permanent as a free agent.
The defender joined Chelsea from Derby County in 2022 but never made his senior debut for the Blues; the 33 appearances he made for Burton last season suggest he’s found a more appropriate place to settle.
Bashir Humphreys
- To: Burnley
- Fee: £10m
- Position: Defender
- Age: 22
Humphreys had three loan spells away from Chelsea after coming through the academy: with Paderborn, Swansea City and Burnley.
During the latter spell, Humphreys made 28 appearances – mainly at left-back – until an injury in February.
That wasn’t the last we’ll see of Humphreys in a Burnley shirt, though, since they have signed him on a permanent basis after their promotion to the Premier League.
It will be his first chance to play in the top flight, since his only two senior appearances for Chelsea were in cup competitions.
Lucas Bergstrom
- To: Mallorca
- Fee: Free
- Position: Goalkeeper
- Age: 22
Seven years ago, Chelsea signed a youthful Bergstrom for their academy. The Finnish goalkeeper went on to have loan spells with Peterborough United and IF Brommapojkarna.
He spent the 2024-25 season back at Chelsea, but never even made the bench for a Premier League game. He was sometimes the sub keeper in the Conference League – including in the final – and once in the EFL Cup, but still remained without a debut.
Chelsea used Bergstrom a few times for their under-21 team last season, but with Penders on his way in, have decided it’s time to let him go.
Mallorca have taken him to LaLiga for his next challenge, giving him a contract for the next two seasons.
Eddie Beach
- To: Kilmarnock
- Fee: Free
- Position: Goalkeeper
- Age: 21
Beach was a relatively recent addition to Chelsea’s youth ranks, joining from Southampton’s academy in 2022.
The Welsh goalkeeper never got a senior debut for the club, though, enduring loan spells with Chelmsford City and Gateshead in non-league before spending the 2024-25 campaign in League One with Crawley Town.
Partially impacted by injury, Beach’s only appearance for Crawley came in the FA Cup.
In July, Scottish Premiership side Kilmarnock gave him a contract for the next two seasons.
Luke Campbell
- To: Nottingham Forest
- Fee: Free
- Position: Goalkeeper
- Age: 19
Chelsea signed Campbell at under-9 level in their youth system and he spent some time on loan in the seventh tier of English football with Hendon last season.
Despite earning a handful of under-21 appearances since his reintegration by Chelsea, the goalkeeper hasn’t been retained.
He has since signed a three-year contract with Nottingham Forest, where he has been placed in the academy.
Marcell Washington
- To: Arsenal
- Fee: Free
- Position: Left-back
- Age: 17
Washington only made it up to under-18 level with Chelsea, but spent some time as a triallist with Arsenal’s under-21s earlier this year.
The left-back – who can also play further forward on the same flank – has since completed a move to Arsenal after his release by the Blues.
Washington is the son of former Chelsea full-back Ryan Bertrand.
Marcus Bettinelli
- To: Man City
- Fee: Nominal
- Position: Goalkeeper
- Age: 33
Bettinelli spent four years as a senior member of Chelsea’s goalkeeping department, usually finding himself third in the pecking order.
As such, his only appearance for the club came in the FA Cup back in 2022.
Although there was a year remaining on his contract, Chelsea allowed Bettinelli to depart when Manchester City asked for him in the early June transfer window.
City had just confirmed Scott Carson was leaving the club at the end of his contract, so opted for another experienced English goalkeeper to become their new third-choice.
Donnell McNeilly
- To: TBC (Released)
- Fee: Free
- Position: Forward
- Age: 19
McNeilly was offered new terms by Chelsea, but rejected them and has become a free agent after being in the youth ranks since the under-12s level.
The striker scored 15 goals last season for Chelsea’s under-21s, but will now look to progress elsewhere.
Walter Nutter
- To: TBC (Released)
- Fee: Free
- Position: Midfielder
- Age: 16
Despite being an U16 player, Nutter played for Chelsea at U18 level last season, but has opted for a new challenge as he continues his development.
Mathis Amougou
- To: Strasbourg
- Fee: Undisclosed
- Position: Midfielder
- Age: 19
Amougou signed an eight-year contract when he joined Chelsea in February 2025. He has moved on just five months into it.
Fellow BlueCo side Strasbourg have signed the midfielder on a permanent deal, giving him a contract until 2030.
Amougou only managed 12 minutes of action for Chelsea, across a substitute appearance each in the Premier League and the Conference League.
Zak Sturge
- To: Millwall
- Fee: Undisclosed
- Position: Left-back
- Age: 21
After joining Chelsea from Brighton in 2022, Sturge was unable to make his senior debut for the Blues.
Following some time on loan at Millwall during the second half of last season, the defender has made his move to the Championship club permanent.
Djordje Petrovic
- To: Bournemouth
- Fee: £25m
- Position: Goalkeeper
- Age: 25
Petrovic has left Chelsea having made 31 appearances for the Blues, all during the 2023-24 campaign.
The Serbia international was loaned out to BlueCo-owned Ligue 1 club Strasbourg on a season-long deal last term and was named the club’s Player of the Season, leading Strasbourg to a 7th-placed finish in Ligue 1 and qualifying for the UEFA Conference League.
Reflecting on the move, Petrovic said: “I’m really happy to be here. I came to Bournemouth because I want to grow and I want to play at the best level.
“Together with this club, with these facilities, I think we can achieve it. I want to help the team get the results, improve every day and be a better player.”
Noni Madueke
- To: Arsenal
- Fee: £48.5m
- Position: Winger
- Age: 23
To counter-balance their big spend on Gittens, Chelsea sold Madueke to Arsenal for the same fee they paid to Borussia Dortmund for their new winger.
Madueke was a Chelsea player for two-and-a-half seasons after arriving from PSV in January 2023. He scored 20 goals from 92 games for the Blues.
Madueke wrote on Instagram: “To every staff member that helped me along this journey, thank you. To my teammates thank you for everything, I leave with only love and admiration for you guys. We achieved so much this season and I honestly wish you guys nothing but the best.
“To Enzo Maresca, it was a privilege to play under you, thank you for trying to better me as a player and as a person. Lastly thank you to every single Chelsea fan. Thank you for the love, the praise and also the criticism, I appreciate it all. I leave here with nothing but fond memories.”
Joao Felix
- To: Al-Nassr
- Fee: £26m
- Position: Forward
- Age: 25
It raised eyebrows when Chelsea signed Felix for a second spell last summer, following his previous loan stint from Atletico Madrid.
After arriving in the opposite direction to Conor Gallagher, Felix only lasted for half a season, making 20 appearances as a permanent Chelsea player and scoring seven goals.
A loan spell to AC Milan didn’t deliver the expected results and now Chelsea have sold Felix to Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr, where he will link up with international teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.
Felix has signed a two-year contract in the Middle East.
Harry Rodda
- To: Southampton
- Fee: Undisclosed
- Position: Right-back
- Age: 17
After signing for Chelsea’s academy last summer, Rodda went on trial with Southampton recently and accepted a move to the South Coast.
Ishe Samuels-Smith
- To: Strasbourg
- Fee: £6.5m
- Position: Left-back
- Age: 19
Another move from Chelsea to Strasbourg, Samuels-Smith is a player who never made his senior debut for the Blues.
There were high hopes when he arrived from Everton in 2023, but Chelsea have moved him on to their sister club, with the transfer value believed to be in the region of £6.5m.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall
- To: Everton
- Fee: £24m
- Position: Midfielder
- Age: 26
Just one year after following Enzo Maresca from Leicester City to Chelsea, Dewsbury-Hall has been sold to Everton.
Dewsbury-Hall played just 13 times in his only Premier League season with Chelsea, so will be hoping for more continuity on Merseyside.
“I’m honestly very excited, my family’s excited. There’s a real buzz about this. It feels right for me,” he said.
“So just that alone gives me the motivation and the extra determination to show everybody, to prove a point and have a really successful time here.”
Lesley Ugochukwu
- To: Burnley
- Fee: £25m
- Position: Midfielder
- Age: 21
Signed from Rennes in 2023, Ugochukwu spent one season with Chelsea before spending last term on loan with Southampton and suffering relegation.
He has now moved to newly promoted Burnley in a deal said to be in the region of £25m, which would be a small profit for the Blues.
“It feels like this is the perfect move for me at this stage of my career with the ambition the club is showing,” the 21-year-old said upon signing a five-year contract.
Armando Broja
- To: Burnley
- Fee: £20m
- Position: Striker
- Age: 23
Broja came through the Chelsea youth system and broke into the first team back in 2020.
But fierce competition for places, combined with his age, was always going to make it tough for Broja to become a regular in the first team at the London club.
The Albania international striker, who has had injury issues as well in his career, had loan spells at Vitesse, Southampton, Fulham and Everton in recent years.
In total, Broja played only 38 matches for Chelsea, and he will now hope to get his career back on track at Burnley.
After signing a five-year contract with Burnley, Broja told the club’s official website: “I am really excited to be here as a Burnley player.
“It’s a really positive time to be joining this club ahead of the start of the new Premier League season. I can’t wait to get going!”
The striker added: “I’m feeling good, I’m ready and I’m excited about the challenge of playing for this club.
“I can already feel the support from the Burnley fans – I can tell you all that I will be giving my all every time I pull on the famous Claret shirt.”
Renato Veiga
- To: Villarreal
- Fee: £26m
- Position: Defender
- Age: 22
Chelsea have turned a quick profit on Veiga, who only joined them last summer but ended last season out on loan at Juventus after growing unhappy with his position.
After a deal with Atletico Madrid came and went, Veiga has instead moved to Spain with Villarreal, who are paying up to €30m (£26m) including add-ons.
The initial fee is believed to be €25m (£21.6m) and Chelsea should have a sell-on clause for the Portugal international as well.
His final Chelsea appearance tally is 18 and he only started one Premier League game.
Chelsea loan exits
Teddy Sharman-Lowe
- To: Bolton Wanderers
- Length: Season-loan
- Position: Goalkeeper
- Age: 22
Sharman-Lowe has signed up for his fifth loan spell away from Chelsea since joining the club in 2020.
Last season, the goalkeeper was instrumental in helping Doncaster Rovers win promotion from League Two to League One. This season, he will be playing in the third tier, but for Bolton Wanderers.
The loan deal will last for the full season. Prior to its confirmation, Sharman-Lowe secured a new contract with Chelsea to last until 2028.
Caleb Wiley
- To: Watford
- Length: Season-long
- Position: Left-back
- Age: 20
After spending the second half of last season on loan at Watford, Chelsea have permitted Wiley the chance to continue at Vicarage Road for another season.
The American left-back was signed from Atlanta United in 2024 but is yet to make a competitive debut for Chelsea, who sent him to sister club Strasbourg on loan before his original Watford move.
Wiley, who has a Chelsea contract until 2030, will now get the chance to add to his 10 appearances for the Hornets.
Mike Penders
- To: Strasbourg
- Length: Season-long
- Position: Goalkeeper
- Age: 19
For the second season in a row, Chelsea have sent a goalkeeper on loan to sister club Strasbourg, this time choosing the French league as the ideal next step for Penders.
On the back of his pre-agreed arrival from Genk, the Belgian teenager will develop in Ligue 1 for the 2025-26 season.
Kendry Paez
- To: Strasbourg
- Length: Season-long
- Position: Midfielder
- Age: 18
After a deal was initially agreed to sign the teenager two years ago, Paez eventually moved to The Bridge this summer after he turned 18.
However, he has now gone straight out on loan to sister club Strasbourg for the 2025-26 season.
Mamadou Sarr
- To: Strasbourg
- Length: Season-long
- Position: Centre-back
- Age: 19
Barely two months after signing him from Strasbourg, Chelsea have sent Sarr back to his former club to continue his development within the BlueCo network.
Sarr played 27 times for Liam Rosenior’s side in Ligue 1 last season, so will hope to benefit from the same kind of consistent playing time.
Leo Castledine
- To: Huddersfield Town
- Length: Season-long
- Position: Midfielder
- Age: 19
Castledine’s last loan spell was in League One with Shrewsbury Town and he will be playing in the third tier again with Huddersfield Town now.
“I know that I’m not the first player to join Huddersfield Town from Chelsea on loan, and the players came before me have all done brilliantly here and gone on to have amazing careers,” said Castledine, who follows in the footsteps of the likes of Trevoh Chalobah, Levi Colwill, Kasey Palmer, Tino Anjorin and Alex Matos.
“I can only hope that I can have the same impact here and use this experience to become better, and I’ll work hard to make that the case.”
Marc Guiu
- To: Sunderland
- Length: Season-long
- Position: Striker
- Age: 19
Guiu only played three times in the Premier League last season after joining Chelsea from Barcelona, but he showed his potential on course to Conference League glory, with six goals from nine games in Europe.
He will now build up his experience in the English top flight with a season-long spell at Sunderland, who won’t have an option to buy him, since he remains a long-term prospect for Chelsea.
